Global Proving Ground (GPG) are holding an open tryout in the U.K. for their upcoming reality TV show “Warrior Island”. They have announced that UCMMA promoter Dave O’Donnell will be the host for their next open casting call at the Troxy Theater in London, England on Sept. 8.
The reality show will feature 16 fighters chosen by fans, who will travel to Warrior Island in the Pacific Ocean to train with various masters from the world of Mixed Martial Arts. The fighters will compete for a $500,000.00 prize.
This will be the first casting call held outside of the United States, giving potential contestants the opportunity of a lifetime. The fighters will enter the cage between the prelim and main card intermission to tryout and showcase their skills in front of a sold out crowd in hopes of being selected.
Here is what GPG President and CEO, James Jefferson had to say:
“At Global Proving Ground the fight fans are the driving force behind a fighter’s success. Fans have the power to take a relatively unknown skilled fighter and make them internationally known. GPG offers combat sports fighters of all disciplines a broad range of lucrative opportunities, each GPG project is powered by the fighters and driven by the fans.”
Auditions are open to martial artists of all weight classes, forms and disciplines, not just MMA fighters. Anyone in the London area this weekend interested in being considered should email Dave O’Donnell at [email protected] with a short bio, your martial arts background, weight class and contact info. Call backs will be held periodically throughout the rest of the week and winners will be selected to begin filming on location February 1st 2013.
Here is what UCMMA promoter Dave O’Donnell had to say:
“UCMMA has always been dedicated to delivering the best and brightest British talent to fight fans around the globe. Now our platform will allow us to give a few lucky guys the opportunity of a lifetime. I am extremely proud to host the first UK casting call for Warrior Island.”
