Article first published as Georges St-Pierre Injured, No Longer Able to Fight Carlos Condit at UFC 137 on Technorati.
The lastest news to come out in relation to UFC 137 is the cancellation of the main event between Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit. Unfortunately the UFC welterweight champion GSP had to withdraw from the fight due to a knee injury sustained during training.
There were rumours of the UFC attempting to find a replacement for GSP to face Condit but it seems that the challenger has chosen to wait patiently for his title shot rather then opting to fight someone else. As you will probably all remember Carlos Condit was actually brought in as a replacement for Nick Diaz who was originally going to face GSP for the title. The reason Diaz was scratched is because he did not show up to few important press conferences for the fight so UFC president Dana White took him out of the fight. He also considered completely ending his contract with the UFC but then slotted him into a fight against veteran and former champion BJ Penn.
As a result of the most recent GSP injury the Nick Diaz vs BJ Penn fight will now become the main event for UFC 137. This fight has no problem being main event as I know many MMA fans can’t wait to see who will come out on top. Both men are dangerous with their stand-up and ground game, I simply cannot predict who will win this fight and how. Literally anything can happen and that is what makes it so interesting.
Thanks Guys,
Jay Cee.
