News has emerged that K.J. Noons will take on Billy Evangelista at the ”Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal” event set to take place on December 17th 2011 at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. This lightweight battle will be part of the main card that airs on Showtime.
K.J. Noons enters this fight coming off two straight loses. The first of these two loses came against Nick Diaz when Noons challenged for the Strikeforce welterweight title in October 2010. Diaz won the fight via unanimous decision forcing Noons to go back to the drawing board. His most recent fight and loss was against Jorge Masvidal at the ”Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum” event that took place in June of this year. K.J. Noons lost the decision again in this fight and now really needs to get himself back on track to show Strikeforce and the fans that he is still a top contender within the organisation. Prior to the recent string of loses Noons was on a six fight win streak so hopefully he can regain some of that same momentum.
Billy Evangelista faced his first MMA defeat in his last fight against Jorge Masvidal at the ”Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson” event held in March of this year. Prior to this he had competed in 11 fights without losing, 10 of those fights were victories and one was a no contest. Evangelista has notable victories over the likes of Nam Phan, Jorge Gurgel and Waachiim Spiritwolf just to name a few. But in his most recent fight against Masvidal Billy was out classed by Jorge’s striking and wrestling abilities. Evangelista will now look to solidify himself as one of the best in the division with a big victory over K.J. Noons. It will be great to see what happens.
Thanks guys,
