News has recently emerged that heavyweight fighters Lavar Johnson and Joey Beltran will take each other on at UFC on Fox 2. This event is set to take place on the 28th of January 2012 at Chicago’s United Center. The fight is expected to be part of the preliminary card for the evening.
Lavar Johnson will be making his first ever UFC appearance on the night after making a move over from Strikeforce who are closing down their heavyweight division. He will enter the fight with an MMA record of 15-5 and an unfortunate two fight losing streak. He has lost his last two fights to Shane del Rosario and Shawn Jordan, both defeats came by submission. Prior to those fights Johnson had won seven fights in a row. Lavar will now look to get himself back on track by starting his UFC career with a win over the ”Mexicutioner”.
Joey Beltran enters this fight with an MMA record of 13-6 and is coming off a loss to Stipe Miocic in his last fight at UFC 136. He lost that fight via unanimous decision and really does need a win to keep the UFC bosses happy. He is 1-3 in his last four fights, with his only victory coming against Aaron Rosa at UFC 131. The other two losses were to Pat Barry and Matt Mitrione. Fights involving ”The Mexicutioner” are always exciting and he always gives 100%. This heavyweight battle against Lavar Johnson should be no different. I am looking forward to seeing what happens.
Thanks guys,
Jay Cee.
