The BAMMA 10 fight card is now finalised as two late replacements complete the line-up. Luke Barnatt (5-0) has stepped in to replace Carl Noon against Matt Ewin (22-12), and Jack Magee (7-4-1) is now set to face Tom Breese (4-0) instead of Warren Kee. Both of the fighters being replaced were forced to withdraw due to injuries.
The two new bouts were announced by BAMMA officials today via official press release.
BAMMA 10 takes place at the Wembley Arena in London on Sept. 15. The event will feature a headline bout between Andre Winner and Rob Sinclair who will battle for the lightweight title. The show will be broadcast live on HDNet (AXS TV) in the US, The Fight Network in Canada, Esporta in Brazil, Red Media in Russia, Setanta in Africa and TDN in Latin America.
Matt Ewin is currently on a three fight losing streak, most recently dropping a second round submission to Lee Barnes at BAMMA 9 in March. Prior to that he suffered back-to-back TKO losses against John Phillips and Claudio Henrique Da Silva during 2011. His last victory was against Ivan Salaverry at BAMMA 6 in May 2011, where he won via unanimous decision. Ewin will no doubt look to get himself back into the win column with a big performance against Barnatt.
Here is what Matt Ewin had to say:
“I’ve had a great camp for this fight. I’m feeling confident in my prep for it even though the opponent has changed. It’s going to be a far more technical fight than with Noon. He’s got good stand up and very, very long range. He’s definitely going to be a name in the future but not right now; and this isn’t going to be a good fight for him. I know what they’re expecting from the fight but I’ve got a few more things for them this time. I’m definitely not done yet!”
Undefeated Luke Barnatt is currently riding a five fight winning streak, most recently defeating Matteo Piran via first round TKO at UWC 20 earlier this month. Prior to that he scored a first round submission victory over Chris Harman at UCMMA 28 in May, and another first round sub over Lee Johnson at BAMMA 9 in March. This will be Luke’s fifth fight of 2012, so it will be interesting to see if he can extend his winning streak to six with a big win over Ewin.
Here is what Luke Barnatt had to say:
“Taking Matt Ewin on in 11 days’ notice is surprising to most people….Even BAMMA thought my coach was punishing me for something, but I don’t see it as a step up in class. I believe the only way to be a top fighter is by testing yourself against the top and I see it as finally fighting someone at my level. Ewin is a top UK middleweight and I see myself as one too, so I jumped at the opportunity to fight him. Everyone keeps telling me Matt Ewin has fought the Who’s Who of MMA. Well, I fought last weekend and beat a top European Middleweight in 4 minutes and next weekend I’m going to try to do the same in front of a packed BAMMA crowd at Wembley. Then, he’ll have Luke “Bigslow” Barnatt to add to his list.”
Submission specialist Jack Magee is currently riding a two fight winning streak, most recently defeating Charlie Leary via first round submission at Shock’n’Awe 10 in March. Prior to that he scored a first round submission against Kes Kpokogri at a Killacam Promotions event in October 2011. Magee now has the opportunity to put another notch in the win column by defeating Breese.
Here is what Jack Magee had to say:
“I feel great about the fight. I don’t know too much about my opponent, but I’ve heard he is a tough fighter who likes both stand up and ground work; and so do I, so it should be a sexy fight. It’s a pleasure to fight on BAMMA and it was a good feeling to have such a big show call me up. So, thanks to all who got this fight on.”
Undefeated Tom Breese enters this bout on a four fight winning streak, most recently defeating Mark Tucker via second round knockout at BAMMA 9 in March. Prior to that he scored three consecutive submission wins over Shahid Hussain, Lee Taylor and Qasim Shafiq. Breese will no doubt look to continue his success with a big performance against Magee.
Here is what Tom Breese had to say:
“My opponent change is of no concern to me. Regardless of him, my original guy or not, the result will be the same. I respect anyone who takes a fight on such short notice and I thank Jack Magee for doing so, but in doing so he believes he is in with a chance of beating me. He thinks he has something others have not and I don’t like that. I don’t like that one bit and I will dispatch him and show him that it was not his greatest decision.”
Here is the finalised BAMMA 10 fight card:
- Andre Winner vs Rob Sinclair (lightweight title fight)
- Andrew Punshon vs. Jack Marshman (middleweight title fight)
