The UFC look set to make their return to London in the new year. After rumours that an English city was likely to host the UFC on FUEL TV 7 event, various reports have now confirmed that the 12,500 seat Wembley Arena will be the venue for the promotions next U.K. show on Feb. 16.
News of the event was first reported by the Daily Mirror newspaper, but the article was later taken down from their website. However, since then various sources in the MMA media including MMAFighting.com have confirmed the event.
The promotions last appearance in the U.K. was for UFC on FUEL TV 5, which took place at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England, on Sept. 29.
UFC on FUEL TV 7 will be the UFC’s first time back in London after two years, as they have not visited the capital since UFC 120, which took place at the O2 Arena in October 2012. The event was headlined by a matchup between British fighter Michael Bisping and Japan’s Yoshihiro Akiyama. The show reportedly set a company record for attendance in Europe with 17,133 fans, which generated a live gate of approximately $2.56 million.
No fights have been announced for the event at this stage, but the event is expected to be announced shortly.
