Bellator 89 now has a confirmed headline bout as Bellator MMA bantamweight champion Eduardo “Dudu” Dantas is set to defend his belt against fellow Brazilian Marcos “Loro” Galvao. The event is set to take place at Charlotte’s Bojangles’ Coliseum on Feb. 14.
Bellator MMA officials recently announced the bout via official press release.
Bellator 89 will also feature the opening round of Bellator’s highly anticipated Middleweight Tournament, as well as loaded preliminary card that will be streamed exclusively on Spike.com. The main card will air on Spike, as well as in Spanish language on mun2.
Eduardo Dantas last fought at Shooto Brazil 33 in August, where he dropped a first round KO loss against Tyson Nam. Prior to that he had been on a seven fight winning streak, defeating notable fighters such as Ed West, Alexis Vila and Zach Makovsky. Dantas will no doubt look to get himself straight back onto the winning track with a big performance against Galvao.
Marcos Galvao is currently riding a three fight winning streak, most recently defeating Luis Nogueira via second round TKO at Bellator 73 in August. Prior to that he scored a unanimous decision victory over Travis Marx at Bellator 68 in May, and another unanimous decision win over Ed West at Bellator 65 in April. Galvao has a chance to extend his winning streak to four and pick up bantamweight gold with a big win over Dantas.
