A new bout has been added to the DREAM 18 card as Tatsuya ‘Crusher’ Kawajiri (31-7-2) faces Michihiro Omigawa (13-12-1) in a featherweight battle. The event is set to take place at Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo, Japan on New Year’s Eve.
DREAM/Glory Sports International officials confirmed the bout today via official press release.
DREAM 18 will feature a headline bout between former DREAM lightweight champion Shinya Aoki and Antonio McKee. Also, Melvin Manhoef will square off against Denis Kang in a middleweight fight. The DREAM 18 fight card takes place immediately prior to the GLORY 4 Tokyo – Heavyweight Grand Slam, one-night, 16-man tournament.
Tatsuya Kawajiri is currently riding a four fight winning streak, most recently defeating Donald Sanchez via first round submission at “ONE FC: War of the Lions” in March. Prior to that he scored a second round submission victory over Kazuyuki Miyata at a “Fight For Japan” event in December 2011, and a third round submission win over Joachim Hansen in September. Kawajiri will no doubt look to extend his winning streak to five with a big win over Omigawa.
Michihiro Omigawa is currently on a two fight skid, dropping back-to-back decision loses against Manny Gamburyan and Yuri Alcantara during 2012. His most recent victory was against Jason Young at UFC 138 in November 2011, where he won via unanimous decision. Omigawa now has a chance to get himself back into the win column with a big performance against Kawajiri.
