The Maximum Fighting Championship have announced the introduction of a new bantamweight division and they have made their first signing for the new weight-class. 26-year-old Anthony Birchak (9-1) joins the MFC roster and will no doubt look to make a big impact within the organisation.
MFC officials announced the new signing today via official press release.
The 135-pound division will launch at MFC 37: True Grit taking place on Friday, May 10 at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, and live on AXS TV Fights.
Here is what MFC Owner/President, Mark Pavelich had to say:
“Anthony is the next generation of MMA fighter,” touted Pavelich. “He is the total package from his fight game to his personality to his social media skills.” Mark also said. “It’s the direction we are moving in. He can sell the fight then back it up in the ring. The new 135-pound division needs to take notice because trouble is coming and his name is Anthony Birchak.”
Anthony Birchak is currently riding a three fight winning streak, most recently defeating Matt Leyva via first round TKO at “Jackson’s MMA Series 10″ in December 2012. Prior to that he scored a third round TKO victory over Roman Salazar at a “Coalition of Combat” event in June 2012, and a second round TKO win over John Green in April 2012. Birchak will have the chance to extend his winning streak to four with a big performance in his MFC debut.
“I’ve been on pins and needles, waiting with baited breath,” said Birchak, an avid graphic artist. “I want to be that guy who makes the MFC bantamweight division known. I want people to know who I am and become one of the biggest names in the world as I make my own brand.”
