Full Contact Contender have confirmed the headliner for their upcoming FCC 5 event as Pietro Menga (8-0) faces Mark Platts (10-8) in a flyweight title showdown. The event is set to take place in the Premier Suite at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium on March. 16.

FCC officials recently confirmed the bout via official press release.

Pietro Menga last fought at UCC 13 in December 2012, where he scored a first round submission victory over Steve McCombe. Prior to that he picked up a third round submission win over Rany Saadeh at UCC 12 in September, and second round submission win over Shamsul Haque in April. Menga will no doubt look to remain undefeated and extend his winning streak to nine with a big win over Platts.

“Our first year exceeded our wildest expectations, with each show ending up bigger and better than the last. I’m proud to bring such an important fight as Platts vs Menga to FCC for our first card of 2013, and even prouder that the winner will be crowned our first ever professional MMA champion. Menga has been on a tear, and can’t be too far away from a call up to one of the country’s big professional shows. Platts will be his toughest test to date though, and brings a ton of experience to the cage. The contracts are signed, so it’s time to begin the countdown! This one is going to be too close to call – just how I like them!” 

Mark Platts last fought at Cage Warriors 47 in June 2012, where he dropped a second round submission loss against Neil Seery. Prior to that he had been on a two fight winning streak, defeating Brian Hyslop and Max Henchy earlier in 2012. Platts now has the chance to get himself back into the win column with a good performance against Menga.
