A new bout has been added to the Full Contact Contender 5 card as Coner Hignett (0-0) makes his Pro MMA debut against Danny Missin (2-0) in a flyweight matchup. The event is set to take place at the Premier Suite at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium on March 16th, 2013.
FCC officials confirmed the new bout today via official press release.
Another bout has also been added to the card with Callum Brady (5-1) set to take on James Lewis (6-2) for the vacant FCC Amateur Welterweight title.
Here is what FCC promoter Adam Teh had to say:
“I know how hard Coner, Danny and their teams have worked to prepare for what no doubt would have been one of the highlights of UCFC 5. FCC are proud to step in and ensure that the fighters get the bout they have trained so hard for, and that their fans get to see the fight they deserve. Both men come from great camps, and leave it all in the cage. It’s unfortunate that UCFC had to be cancelled; we’re happy to be able to host Coner vs Danny, and hopeful that the other fighters on that card will be able to find a solution elsewhere.”
Coner Hignett last fought at FCC 3 in June 2012, where he scored a first round TKO victory over Chris McMullen. Prior to that he picked up a first round submission win over Duane Makin at Cage Conflict 11 in October 2011. After considerable success as an amateur, Hignett now has the chance to score a big win over Missin in his pro debut.
Danny Missin is currently riding a two fight winning streak, most recently defeating Gavin Davies via first round TKO at Cage Control 1 in December 2012. Prior to that he scored a first round submission victory over Anthony Ferguson at LFC 4 in October 2012. Danny will no doubt look to extend his winning streak to three with a good performance against Hignett.
