A new bout has been announced for the BAMMA 13 card as Colin “Freakshow” Fletcher (8-3) faces Tim “Super Human” Newman (10-3) in a lightweight showdown. The event is set to take place at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England, on Sept 14.
BAMMA officials confirmed the new bout today.
BAMMA 13 will feature two title bouts as Jason Jones meets Max Nunes in a light heavyweight battle for the BAMMA title; and Britain’s Jimmy Wallhead faces U.S. Welterweight, “Fast” Eddy Ellis for the BAMMA welterweight belt. The event is expected to air on Channel 5 and 5* in the UK.
Colin Fletcher last fought at UFC 158 in March, where he dropped a unanimous decision loss to Mike Ricci. Prior to that he suffered unanimous decision loss to Norman Parke in the TUF Smashes Finale at UFC on FX 6 in December 2012. Before competing on The Ultimate Fighter reality TV series “Freakshow” had been on a four fight winning streak, defeating fighters such as Igor Montes, David Round and Jason Ball during 2011/2012. Fletcher now has the chance to bounce back into the win column with a good performance against Newman.
Tim Newman is currently riding a two fight winning streak, most recently defeating Chris Hoban via unanimous decision at OMMAC 16 in March. Prior to that he scored a first round submission victory over Greg Loughran at Cage Warriors 49 in October 2012. Tim has not been defeated since December 2011, where he dropped a unanimous decision loss to Curt Warburton at BAMMA 8. Newman now has the chance to extend his winning streak to three by defeating “Freakshow” on September 14th.
