UK Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion, Battle Arena, have announced the second installment of Battle Ground, a developmental submission grappling event based in a friendly, relaxed environment for both Gi and No Gi competitors.
The event takes place on March 15th at the Lodge Park Sports Centre in Corby.
There may be some fighters who are not quite ready to step into the cage, well Battle Ground aims to provide a competitive structure that in time can lead fighters to taking the next step.
Fighters who do well in the Battle Ground event and wish to pursue even bigger goals could find themselves fighting in the promotions big brother event Battle Arena. However, Battle Ground has not only been created for beginners or people looking to break into MMA, it also provides an option for more experienced grapplers or fighters with a variety of categories ranging from beginners, to intermediate and advance, across five weight divisions.
Here is what Battle Arena CEO James Price had to say:
“By adding Battle Ground to our portfolio of events we hope to encourage more people to get involved with amateur MMA and grappling. It’s a great sport with a big future where people from all walks of life compete against each other in a warm and friendly environment. Unlike MMA events, Battle Ground is a more low key and relaxed event run in sports halls on mats instead of in a ring or cage. It’s very team and family focused and we can now also offer the events to juniors competitors. The first event back in Decmber 2013 went really well and we expect the event to grow during 2014. We are running 9 competitions this year.”
