News has emerged that Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will take on Nate Diaz at the UFC 141 event that will take place in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on December 30th 2011.
The fight has been given co-main-event status and will take place on the same night that Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem take each other on in a heavyweight showdown.
Donald Cerrone picked up a huge victory over the weekend at UFC 137 against up and coming fighter Dennis Siver. This fight was Donald’s sixth straight MMA victory and he is on an unbelievable run at the moment within the lightweight division. Donald always puts on a good fight and is no stranger to winning fight bonuses, in fact he picked up “submission of the night” on Saturday for defeating Dennis Siver via rear naked choke. Diaz is also great at submission and has a good ground game so it should be very interesting to see what direction the fight goes in.
Nate Diaz will come into this bout having defeated Takanori Gomi in his last fight with an armbar submission at UFC 135. Before that victory Nate had suffered two consecutive losses, one loss to Dong Hyun Kim and the other to Rory MacDonald. Now he will need to build his way back up through the division and a victory over Cerrone who is currently on fire will give him a huge step up. Each man has great stand up and a great ground game so this is one on the card that you must tune in to.
Thanks guys,
Jay Cee.
