News has emerged that the UFC Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre has been forced to withdraw from his UFC 143 meeting with Nick Diaz due to an injury. He has a torn ACL which was confirmed by his personal doctor earlier this week. This means that yet again he will not be able to face Nick Diaz. The champion will be out if action for 9-10 months as he will require reconstructive surgery to rectify the problem.
As a replacement for the main event Nick Diaz will now take on Carlos Condit in a battle for an interim belt. This new bout will be the main event for UFC 143. The winner of this interim belt will obviously challenge GSP for the undisputed title once his injury is healed and he is able to compete again.
Originally Carlos Condit was set to fight Josh Koscheck at UFC 143 but this has now been scrapped due to Condit’s move to the main event. It is not yet known if Koscheck will remain on the card.
Thanks guys,
Jay Cee.
