This weekend one of the U.K’s premier mixed martial-arts promotions Shock N Awe will hold it’s eleventh event. There may have been some changes to the fight card as a result of unexpected fighter injuries but replacements have been made and fans will still get to see an action packed night of bouts featuring some top British talent.

Shock N Awe XI takes place on July 14 at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth. The event will feature a headline bout between James Pennington (6-0) and Davey Grant (6-1) who take each other on for the British bantamweight title. In the co-main event we will see Alexei Roberts (6-2) face Andy Kerr (4-2) for the British welterweight title.

Here is what Shock N Awe Director Gareth Johnson had to say about the upcoming event:

“The behind the scenes preparation for this show has been off the scale, the end product will reflect that with 19 huge fights in front of a capacity crowd. With a top of the bill main event between Gym 01’s James Pennington versus Davey Grant from the world renowned Wolfslair Gym anyone who see’s this show will be talking about it for months to come.”

James Pennington is currently riding a six fight winning streak, most recently defeating Carl Hunt via first round submission at Kayo MMA 6 earlier this year. Just prior to that he scored a decision victory over Chris Garry in March, and a first round submission over Sam Hewitt in April 2011. This undefeated bantamweight fighter will look to continue his form against Grant and add another fight to the win column.

Davey Grant is also riding a six fight winning streak, most recently defeating Rob Bunford via first round TKO at Total Combat 46 in March. Prior to that he scored a first round submission win over Luke Dixon in November 2011, and another first round submission over Mark Aldridge in July 2011. Davey’s only pro MMA defeat was against Dale Dargan in his debut fight back in July 2009; since then the submission specialist has rolled over all competition and will no doubt look to do the same against Pennington.
