Miami, Fla. - Top mixed martial arts (MMA) firm First Round Management has signed The Ultimate Fighter 15 winner Mike “Maverick” Chiesa to a representation agreement, President and CEO Malki Kawa announced today.
“I am excited to be working with First Round Management, the top MMA representation agency. My goal is to compete in big fights that will advance my career to the championship level, and I believe working with the team at First Round Management gives me the best opportunity to achieve that goal,” Chiesa said.
“Mike Chiesa has earned his way into the UFC in a short period of time, and has a very bright future ahead of him in MMA,” Kawa stated. “We are excited that he has joined First Round Management’s roster, and we look forward to helping his career move to the next level.”
Chiesa’s next fight is scheduled for Dec. 8 at UFC on FOX 5 in Seattle, Wash. against Marcus LeVesseur in a battle of rising Lightweight stars, one day after his 25th birthday.
Chiesa took the MMA world by storm in June by winning The Ultimate Fighter 15 with a first-round submission. The victory raised his professional record to 8-0, with six wins coming via submission. His opponents have not reached the second round in his last five fights and Chiesa has not lost a round on judges scorecards in his career.
After an accomplished wrestling career at Shadle Park High School in Spokane, Wash, Chiesa studied Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to add to his MMA repertoire, which has helped him to be dominant with submission techniques. He held five amateur titles across three states, and is the reigning Lightweight champion in the Lord of the Cage promotion.
Chiesa currently trains in Spokane, Wash. at SikJitSu MMA. Fans can follow him on his Twitter handle, @MikeMav22.
