A new bout has been added to the Cage Warriors 62 card as Neil Seery (13-9) defends the CWFC flyweight title against former UFC fighter Ulysses Gomez (9-4). The event is set to take place at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England, on Dec. 7.
Cage Warriors officials confirmed the new bout earlier today.
Cage Warriors 62 will feature a headline bout between Brett Johns and James Brum, who will battle for the Cage Warriors bantamweight title. The main card is expected to air live on Premier Sports here in the U.K. with the prelims likely to air on Facebook.
Neil Seery is currently riding a four fight winning streak, most recently defeating Mikael Silander via third round submission to become the new flyweight champion at Cage Warriors 55 in June. Prior to that he picked up notable victories over fighters such as Mark Platts, Karl Harrison and Paul Marin, which secured him a shot at the 125lb title. Seery will no doubt look to impress once again with a good performance against Gomez.
Ulysses Gomez last fought at UFC on FUEL TV 7 in February, where he dropped a unanimous decision loss against Phil Harris. Prior to that he suffered a first round KO loss against John Moraga at UFC on FOX 4 in August 2012. That loss snapped a two fight winning streak Gomez had been on, defeating Drew Bittner via second round submission at Tachi Palace Fights 10 in August 2011, and Cody Gibson via third round submission at Tachi Palace Fights 11 to become the Tachi Palace bantamweight champ. Gomez now has the chance to bounce back into the win column and take home a title with a win over Seery.
