Cage Warriors 61 was scheduled to take place in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Saturday, December 14, but it will now take place at the King Hussein Youth City Boxing Arena in Amman, Jordan, on Friday, December 13.
Cage Warriors officials announced the change of date and venue via official press release earlier today.
The event will feature a headline bout between Bruno Carvalho and Matt Inman, who will engage in a welterweight showdown. Also on the night, James Brum will be in action, Jack Mason faces Seydina Seck, and Mohamed Ali takes on James Hurrell.
Here is what Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan had to say:
“My team and I worked extremely hard to make this event in Baghdad happen, but there were too many logistical barriers in our way that meant we couldn’t guarantee that this event would meet CWFC’s high standards of organisation and production,”
Cage Warriors held their first Amman event, CWFC Fight Night 1, back in June 2011. Their most recent visit was for CWFC Fight Night 9, which took place last month in front of a sold-out crowd.
“I’m never willing to compromise on those standards so we’ve taken the decision to move the event to Amman instead. This will be our sixth event there so we’re familiar with the infrastructure and the challenges will subsequently be more familiar and straightforward for us to deal with in this short space of time.” – Graham Boylan.
