Anderson Silva has made an apology to Brazil for losing to UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman this past weekend. After losing to Weidman in their first encounter Anderson had a shot at regaining the title at UFC 168, but unexpectedly broke his leg whilst throwing a leg kick at his opponent.
The 38-year-old Brazilian star was carried out of the octagon on a stretcher and was transported to a medical facility to undergo surgery. The doctors were able to repair Silva’s leg and expect the fighter to be back training after a three to six month recovery period.
In my opinion he has nothing to be sorry for, but “The Spider” decided to make an apology to Brazil via his Twitter account for failing to recapture the middleweight strap:
Brasil sinto muito não queria ter desapontado vocês dei o meu melhor eu juro
— Anderson Silva (@SpiderAnderson) December 29, 2013
This tweet basically translates into: “Brazil, I am very sorry to have disappointed you, did my best I swear.”
Silva has provided us with many memorable fights and outstanding performances in the cage, so I don’t really think he needs to apologize for anything. I’m uncertain of what the future holds for Anderson, many think retirement could be on the cards, but who knows, the former champ may decide to give it one more shot after he has healed up. I wouldn’t put anything past “The Spider”.
