Anderson Silva was the biggest earner at UFC 168 this past weekend, taking home a salary of $600,000 despite losing his UFC middleweight title bout against Chris Weidman ($400,000).
“The Spider” suffered a horrific broken leg during the fight after throwing a leg kick at Weidman. Immediately after the bout Silva was rushed to a medical facility to undergo emergency surgery. The doctors have confirmed that the procedure was a success, estimating that Silva should be able to return to training after 3-6 months of recovery. However, many people have speculated that the chances of Anderson making a return to the sport are slim.
In the co-main event, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey took home a salary of $100,000, submitting Miesha Tate ($28,000) in the third round of their exciting bout. Meanwhile, Travis Browne earned $56,000 with a first round TKO win over Josh Barnett who banked $170,000.
Elsewhere, Dennis Siver was the top earner on the undercard with a $66,000 payday, defeating Manny Gamburyan ($25,000), and Chris Leben, who lost to Uriah Hall ($20,000), earned $51,000.
