I’m almost certain that there will be some exciting fights at UFC 170. The women’s bantamweight title will be on the line and there are lots of important fights taking place that could determine future title contenders.
I have put together a list of 5 excellent reasons why you should tune in and watch the action live:
1.) To see if Sara McMann can defeat Ronda Rousey
Both women have an Olympic history, McMann in wrestling and Rousey in Judo. These two world-class competitors will meet in a matchup that many view as Rousey’s toughest challenge to date. Will McMann be able to claim the throne?
2.) To find out how will Daniel Comier performs in his first bout at Light Heavyweight
After a successful run as a heavyweight, undefeated fighter Daniel Cormier makes the move down to the light heavyweight division in search of a title shot. His first assignment in the new weight-class is newcomer Patrick Cummins, who stepped in for an injured Rashad Evans.
3.) To see if Rory MacDonald can bounce back from his loss to Robbie Lawler
Rory MacDonald is one of the hottest prospects to come out of Canada’s famous TriStar Gym. Because of this, there is a lot of pressure on MacDonald to perform well and follow in the footsteps of his teammate Georges St-Pierre. Will Rory be able to bounce back from his loss against Lawler and maintain his position as a top 5 welterweight by defeating BJJ specialist Demian Maia?
4.) To see who will win out of Jessica Eye and Alexis Davis
The women’s bantamweight division is shaping up nicely with an lot of talented fighters battling to earn a title shot. Eye and Davis are both experienced, tough women who are focused on a chance to meet with Rousey in the Octagon. I would say that Eye holds the advantage in the striking department with Davis holding the advantage on the grappling side of things, however both women are very well rounded. The winner of this fight could be next up to challenge for the title so it is definitely one to watch.
5.) To see if Erick Koch can prove that he deserves to be on the Main Card
Erick Koch had a couple of tough fights during 2013 that left him riding a two-fight losing streak. Once considered a top contender in the featherweight division, Koch now finds himself in desperate need of a win. A loss could see the 25-year-old released from the UFC with a big hill to climb, so it will be interesting to see how he performs with his back against the wall. Koch will face Rafaello Oliveira on the preliminary section of the fight card.
