News has recently emerged that Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann will battle each other in a headline fight at UFC on FX 2. This event is set to take place on the 3rd of March 2012 in Sydney, Australia.
Thiago Alves will enter this fight with an MMA record of 19-8. The Pitbull’s most recent fight was against Papi Abedi at UFC 138 which took place in Birmingham, England. Alves won that fight by locking in a rear naked choke in the first round and submitting his opponent. This victory was a good way to bounce back after Thiago’s previous fight which he lost to Rick Story at UFC 130. A win over Kampmann would be big for Thiago Alves and would prove to the fans and the UFC that he is truly back on form.
Martin Kampmann has an MMA record of 18-5 and is currently coming off a huge victory over Rick Story. The fight took place at UFC 139 which was held in November of this year, Kampmann won the bout via decision ending a two fight losing streak. The two losses were against Jake Sheilds and Diego Sanchez giving Kampmann his first set of back to back losses in his MMA career. If Martin can follow up the victory against Rick Story with a win against Thiago Alves then it really will give him some serious weight in the welterweight division going forward.
Thanks guys,
Jay Cee.
