UK promotion BAMMA today announced the headline bout for their upcoming event BAMMA 10, Jack Marshman (10-1) will face Andrew Punshon (11-5) in a battle for the British middleweight belt.
The matchup was announced by BAMMA today via official press release.
BAMMA 10 will take place on September 15th at the Wembley Arena in London. The event will be headlined by a lightweight title bout between Rob Sinclair and Andre Winner. The show will air LIVE on 5*, with the highlights to be broadcast on the U.K’s Channel 5.
Jack Marshman last fought at BAMMA 9 in March, where he lost via TKO against Tom “Kong” Watson in a middleweight championship bout which was Marshman’s only professional MMA loss. Prior to that he was on a 10 fight winning streak, most recently defeating Lee Barnes via unanimous decision in December 2011, and Carl Noon via third round TKO at BAMMA 7 in September.
Here is what Jack Marshman said about the fight:
“Andrew’s got some knock out power behind him and a strong ground game but I still think I’ll be too much for him to handle in all areas. It’s been a while since my last fight so it’s good to be back. I’ve been concentrating on my boxing recently and I’ve maintained a good level of fighting fitness but I’m looking forward to a hard camp for this fight.”
Fights don’t tend to last very long when Andrew Punshon is involved, he last fought at SFC 6 in May where he scored a first round submission victory over Chris Clarke. Just prior to that he was defeated by Patrick Vallee at BAMMA 9, which snapped a two fight winning streak which included wins over Shaun Lomas and Denniston Sutherland in 2011. Only two of Punshon’s professional fights have ever gone past the first round.
Andrew Punshon said:
“I have been wanting to fight Jack Marshman on BAMMA for ages and am really excited that it’s going ahead. It’s going to be an absolute war!”
