Out of the blue, Nate Diaz has taken to his Twitter page and has requested to be released from his UFC contract?
At this time it is not clear what has caused the 28-year-old to make this kind of request, or if he is actually being serious, but he included UFC president Dana White and the UFC in the Tweet.
See the tweet below:
@ufc@danawhite I would like to request to be released from the @ufc Its time for me to be on my way .. ?

UFC lightweight fighter Nate Diaz, who is the younger brother of welterweight fighter Nick Diaz, won his most recent matchup scoring a “Knockout of the Night” victory over former title challenger Gray Maynard at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale in November 2013. Diaz has not yet been booked for a matchup following that fight.
At this stage it’s hard to speculate upon what could be the cause of Diaz’s tweet, but I am sure we will find out very soon. Maybe his teammate Gilbert Melendez’s recent exploration of the free market has caused Diaz to go out in search of greener pastures, or maybe it’s just a joke, who knows?
