It was recently announced that the main event for UFC 140 will be between light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones and ex-champion Lyoto Machida. This event will take place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on December 10th 2011. The original plan for this event was for Jon Jones to take on Rashad Evans but that fight had to be scrapped due to a hand injury that Evans is still recovering from. This new fight will be great if not potentially more exciting then the originally proposed fight.
Jon Jones not long ago defeated Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 135 in a very dominant performance. This was his first title defense since winning the championship against Mauricio “shogun” Rua at UFC 128 in March of this year.
Lyoto Machida is coming off a big victory over UFC veteran Randy Couture. This win was his first after two straight losses to Mauricio “shogun” Rua and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Machida will now look to get his title back against Jon Jones. These two men have never faced each other before so I cannot wait to see what happens!
Thanks guys.
