The originally scheduled main event for Full Contact Contender (FCC) 8 has been scratched from the fight card as Liverpool MMA Academy fighter Pietro Menga has reportedly suffered a back injury. Menga will no longer be able to face Jody Collins in the headliner, so the FCC middleweight title bout between Lee Chadwick and Alex Minogue will now be the new main event.
FCC are currently looking for a replacement to face Jody Collins, so hopefully he will still get to compete on the card. Meanwhile, Pietro Menga is expected to make a return from his injury early next year, assuming he is able to make a full and speedy recovery.
Here is what FCC promoter Adam Teh had to say:
“We’re gutted to lose a great fight like Menga vs Collins, but injuries are a part of the sport. We wish Pietro a full and speedy recovery, and hope to have him back on FCC in the not too distant future.”
Alex Minogue recently fought at FCC 7 in September, where he scored a second round TKO victory over Dez Parker. Now, within only eight weeks of that fight he will move on to face Chadwick for the middleweight championship in FCC 8′s headline bout. It has all turned out to be quite an interesting turn of events.
Meanwhile, #10 ranked UK middleweight Lee Chadwick is currently riding a six fight winning steak, defeating notable fighters such as Denniston Sutherland and Valentino Petrescu. In his most recent bout, Chadwick picked up a first round submission win over Yvan Sorel at FCC 7 last month.
Here is the FCC 8 card as it currently stands:
Professional Main Event
- FCC Pro Middleweight Title: Lee Chadwick vs Alex Minogue
Professional Showcase Bout
- Mitchell Head vs Azi Thomas
Unified Amateur Title Bouts
- Heavyweight: Tom Bankevics vs Rob Beech
- Light Heavyweight: Shawn Hampton (c) vs Alex Bristow
*Card subject to change, more bouts to be confirmed.*
